Enemies of Islam whose goal were/are to split the Muslims have centered their attack over the Followers of the Members of the House of the Prophet. They distribute anti-Shia booklets all over the globe to misrepresent the school of Ahlul-Bayt. They hope to create confusions in the minds of those who are curious to learn. These malicious attacks are being carried out with political motives aiming to destroy the true spirit of Islam and to nurture feelings of animosity and disbelief towards the Shia. They misquote traditions from Shi’ite sources or quote them out of context to misrepresent the Shi’ite beliefs and to mock the followers of Ahlul-Bayt.
In facing these attacks, we have two options. One is to disregard what they do and perhaps simply deny their accusations. The other way would be to provide a correct representation of our beliefs which have been enshrouded in false propaganda. The latter is the logical approach in this era of information and communication.

I have visited this site and found nothing to ease the relationship b/w Sunnis and Shias. The world will be laughing at us. All the sectarian debate should be academic. We should have one litmus test for all Muslim. If one can go to to Mecca and Medina he is a Muslim. Please use this portal to have unity among Muslim. I am not saying that don’t spread your school of thought but as Quran requires make argument in a civilized manner (which I think you are doing) but add some content on the site to unite Sunnis and Shias. The basic beliefs are common.

This notion of excessive appraisal of Hazrat Ali (R) and your Imam places shias in the dangerous category of Shirk!!! and if there is one sin that is not forgiven, then it is the sin of Shirk!!! Is it not a sign to you that the two people laying next to the Prophet’s body (Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Umar ) have done so much for the religion of Islam, and yet you backstab them to the extent of… There is a Hadith, and Hazrat Ali (R) was asked about the most beloved person to the Prohet (PBUH), and he answered: Aisha, and then Ali was asked of the most beloved amongst the men, and he replied; Her Father. There are countless hadith relating to such topics, and yet you reject them, even though they are the words of the Prophet! and then you claim to follow the quran, the book that tells you to follow the Prophet! Please please please my shia brothers & sisters, wake up and see who it is u r truly following, ask yourself if it is you that the Prophet would call the “guided”, or is it the sunnis, who try to best follow the Quran and Sunnah. We only follow God and his Prophets, there are no need for Imams.

We criticize omaar (RA) because he has made three changes in sunni islam
First he removes MUTTAH (which is clearly mentioned in surrah nissa)
Second he made changes in AZAAN. He removed (Hiyyah alaa kharil amal means Namaz is better then any deeds) it use to be in practice in prophet Mohammed (SAW) period Till Abu backer (RA) period
Third he removes Tafaf E Nissa in HAJ which was in practice from Hz Ibrahim (AS) till Abu backer (RA) period
I ask u who gave him this authority? ? Does he know more then Allah n prophet Mohammed (SAW) ??
now u think who is following the correct or corrupt religion.

Are you people waiting for some miracle that will prove one of us the most righteous people in Islam or waiting for Imam Mehdi to tell us. For God sake, you people started this thread in positive manner and look where you are going. If you people can’t tolerate each other then for God sake don’t talk to each other. Leave everything on the day of judgement. But if you people want to fill the gap with the name of Allah (swt), the Prohet (saw) and Quran, then..in the name of Allah..tolerate each other.
Please stop calling names to our beloved ashabs…and stop calling kafir if someone put more importance to some of our very own beloved personalities.
Can’t we forget whatever happened wrong in past. We have nothing to prove impartially that can satisfy both sects about who was right and who was wrong…except…Quran and Sunnah. Can’t we initiate once again from coming back of Holy Prophet (saw) from “Cave of Hira” until he performed hajj and the Last Greatest Sermon. Believe me we are very good muslims if restrict ourselves to that period when all of our personalities were a single unit…the follower of Islam…the follower of Prophet (saw).
I believe in one thing…there is nothing wrong in the relation of our Khulfa-e-Rashideen (ra) (all the four), the ummahat-ul-mominin (ra) and all other sahaba-e-karam (ra). It was other people weaker in their emaan who made this conflict and Allah knows better i beleive it was the mischievous act of yahood-o-nasara who always tried to split muslims and look they succeeded. It was their revenge and look how foolish are we…how weaker are we in our kafiat-e-emaan…we make them succeed.

I am a Sunni Muslim and I am also a Sayed. You see I am from Afghanistan and in afghanistan we keep with Traditional Islam (Sunni) but we do not forget our identity or the prophet(SAW) or his family. The problem I have with Shia Islam is that there are too many flaws in the most basic beliefs. It has combined the previous religions of the regions in which shias are the majority such as Iran and Iraq. Zoroastrianism and other indigeonous beliefs were combined with the new religion of Islam as it was spreading under the Caliphate of Umar ul Farooq. You see, shia’ism is a Persian invention to distinuish themselves from arab muslims. Pakistan, India, Iran, Afghanistan and other countries of the “Iranian World” are the only countries with significant Shia populations. Even Arab shia countries such as Iraq and Lebanon, have very close ties with Iran, they were originally persian(arab shias). The issue of Muttah is beyond my mind, how can you have a temporary marriage?? Hitting yourself for love of hossein, does not bring Hossein back nor would that make him happy, muslims are not allowed to do anything to harm their bodies or their well being. I agree with shias that Yazid deserved to be executed for his blasphemies and kufr act against the grandsons of our beloved prophet(SAW). So please use the Aql god has given you and decide for yourself, do we worship god or his prophets and his family? That is why islam came, to correct Christianity, becuse it perverted and started to worship Jesus rather than god, and later on they actually considered jesus to be God himself. Imams do not have more power than prophets, and ayatollahs are just a cheap copy of popes, Shias copied catholism to legitimise it as a real religion. Islam is not Sunni nor Shia, it is worship of GOD almigty, alone.

May Allah reward you for paving the way for open discussion in order for all sincere muslims to enlighten themselves and reform their faith.
our initial faith is what we inherited form our parants and to some extend from the society to which we belonged. All what we learnt and believed required to be rationalised with god given blessed faculty of reasoning. Whether one is a shia or a sunni, can not/should not blindly inherit faith instead We should continue to strive hard to learn clarify/purify our faith to the extent of our knowledge(faculty of reasoning) and always keep us connected with people who are possessed with blessed knowledge.
In this way one can without any Irrational suspicion or hatred of a particular sect easily can arrive at the truth. It is undeniable that in todays world the light of Islam is shining brightly in Shiasm(introduced by late Imam Khomaini)far more than what we can witness in sunnism(unfortunately sunnism is divided into 100s of tiny literal states and usurped by enimies of Islam). Since shia and sunni belong undoubtedly to a single (ummah)nation, let us with unity(obeying Quran) ie., striving to erase/demolish the divisive/defeat lines drawn by kuffar, seek the path of our holy prophet in order to regain the lost knowledge rich culture and courage(to oppose and defeat oppression)in order to defend our faith and honor.

there are some people here that said it doesn’t matter if we are sunnis or shias. But don’t you see that it matters? In the day of judment it is going to be about who was right and who was wrong. I think this is also reason we also have all these debates. We want to know who is right at who is wrong. I am a shia and I have a hand ful of sunni friend but none of them hame managed to convince me that they are on the right path.

salam 3aleykom, i just wanted to say, that it’s site like this that make problems in islam. Shia might be the right way, but it is never right for shias to talk about sunnis as if they’re “kafirin”. We already have as much problems with sunnis and shias in the world already, and making some more is surely not useful. For the shias who created this site, let me tell u, one very known shia ayatollah sayed sistani is telling the people that follow him to not make problems with sunis and shias. In Iraq, some bad sunnis are making shias suffer, but sayed sistani still says not to create problems with them. Since a long time in Iraq, sunnis have been killing shias, but yet the good sunnis still get along with the shias greatly. I agree that we have our own beliefs and strongly agree that ours are good, since they are based on ahlul bayt (as)’s beliefs, but just like we are able to respect christians, we are SURELY able to respect people from our own religion. They are muslims, just like we are, although we don’t like the fact that there are many changes in what they and us believe, we have to learn to respect them as much as they have to learn to respect us. America is trying to make problems in lebanon between sunnis and shias so they both split and then Lebanon will be weaker and america and israel can then take over. But, fortunateley, it’s not working, and lebanon is getting stronger and stronger…wa sallam

The youngest Hafizul Quran is a Shia. His family name is Tabatabai and was only 4 years old when he became the Hafiz. Hafiz does not mean only to recite a Quran but to understand it as well. This boy has all this qualities. You ask him anything from Quran and he will pin point the Ayat, Surah. This boy did not learn Quran from any institute but from his Mother and Father. Ask them how they achieved this, might give u some guidance in learning the Quran and understanding it.

I am sure that you are all aware of the hadith that anyone who dies without knowing the imam of his time dies the death of a jahil. This is considered a sahih hadith amongst shia and sunnis.
I would like to ask a sunni to respond please because i have been given a strong argument from the shia and would like to see how our fiqh would reply.
Also, if this is the case then please could someone tell me who did fatima (rasools daughter)accept as her imam before she died?

Although the discussion between Shia and Sunni is unpleasant but one has to know who is right and who is wrong
coz the prophet (s.a.w) once said after him there’ll be many divisions among muslim but only one will be the right one. As per the prophet(s.a.w) only one sect of islam will be right and the rest of them wrong.
A person can only find out with blessings of Allah which sect is the right one thru honest and unbiased research. Research should be started from the creation of the Universe till the present time. We should emphasize on each sayings of the prophet and should not interpret the Ahadiths wrongly. I believe this research should be done by people who are muslims not by birth but by choice.

There are few Ahadiths which needs correct interpretation and I would request the Muslims by Choice and not by Birth to find out and give the answers with references.
1)Abu Sa`id al-Khudri reports: We sat waiting for the Messenger of Allah (s) when he came out to meet us. The strap of his sandal was broken and he tossed it to `Ali. Then he (s) said: “A man amongst you will fight the people over the ta’wil (interpretation) of the Qur’an in the same way as I have fought over its tanzil (revelation).” Thereupon Abu Bakr said: Is that I? The Prophet (s) said: “No.” Then `Umar asked him: Is that I? “No.” said the Prophet (s). “He is the mender of the sandal (i.e. `Ali).”
2)The parable of my ahl al-bayt is that of the boat of Noah, whoever gets aboard it is saved and whoever stays away from it is drowned.”

When a person looks at me they see a Muslim woman and if asked what am I, I will say a Muslim. When asked to define if I’m Shia or Sunni, I have to say that I follow the Sunni practices but I my best friends are Shia. Maybe this is because when I first started to study the religion 20 some years ago, the scholar I learned from stated that one needs to know what a person believes (Shia/Sunni) before declairing someone outside of Islam. So from this and being raised in the west, I strongly believe that Muslims need to leave their prejudice from their many different home countries there and not bring their personal prejudices with them to the west. Both Shi/Sunni are able to learn from the other, so why bring the history of Muslim against Muslim here. We have enough enemies, so we need to learn how to agree to disagree.
The western cultures are counting on us to battle each other and I for one refuse to be a part of their scheme. I believe that Muslims should listen to the lectures of both Sunni or Shia and study both to see which one they wish to label themselves as, but the main heading should be Muslim. Neither of our lectures consist of hatred for the other because there is so much to learn about our religion. In the past I have used both Shia and Sunni scholars when I’ve had a problem. Each told me what the different schools of thought had to say and although they were from different schools and scholars, both gave me the same information as to how I was to solve the problem that was facing me.
To me it is perfectly insane for us to fight over this issue and not look at the fact that we are Muslim first. Although many people may not like what I’m about to say, but think about how many centuries Shia and Sunni Muslims have intermarried and raised strong Muslim children. So, I believe we need to take a page out of the Christian book. Instead of fighting one another we should educate. Then if a person still doesn’t believe as you do, feel sorry for them but remember they are a Muslim first and closer to you than a Kafir.
I will say, I was more than pleased to find the lectures on this website. I have already learned something and inshallah, I will be able to put it into practice.
