Our Mission:

The word ‘Salman’ is derived from the word ‘As-Salaam’. Salaam means peace and is one of the attributive names of God. When the word Salaam is used for human beings, it literally means soundness of body and soul which is obtained through special spiritual and intellectual help which is given to the Prophets and faithful followers of God. The vision of is captured in its motto: “Towards the Inner Vision of the Truth” and is beautifully amplified in the following prayer:

O God! O our Master! You are eternal life and everlasting peace by Your essence and attributes. The everlasting peace is from You and it returns to You. O our Sustainer! Grant us the life of true peace and usher us into the abode of peace. O Glorious and Bounteous One! You are blessed and sublime.

Qur’anic Treasures

The Holy Qur’an was revealed to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and is a universal book of guidance for Muslims. Learning the Holy Qur’an is a duty upon all Muslims according to the following Hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him)1:

“Uthman reported Allah’s messenger as saying, “The best among you is he who learns and teaches the Qur’an.

The following Hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encourages Muslims to recite the Holy Qur’an2:

In order to learn the Holy Qur’an, it is important to know Arabic language. As this is a limitation for a large number of Muslims, I have compiled sound clips of selected Surah (Chapters) and Aya (verses) and their transliteration and translation. I have also provided some additional supporting information for some of these items.

Qur’anic treasures will enable us:

  1. To develop an understanding of major concepts presented in the Holy Qur’an;
  2. To apply these concepts to solve current problems; and
  3. To become ethical and Allah-conscious at all times.

Zikr & Tasbi: Divine Remembrance

Every day, we face many material, spiritual and intellectual difficulties. The path of religion teaches that the most certain way to overcome these difficulties is through abundant prayers and Divine Remembrance. This approach creates courage, strength, inspiration and pure intention in one’s being. In Khutba 226 (p.193) Nahjul Balagha: Sermons, letters and saying of Hazrat Ali (a.s.), published by Tahrike Tarsile Quran, New York, 1981), Hazrat Ali (a.s.) has described the rewards of Divine Remembrance as follows:

“Verily God has given His Remembrance the honour and prestige of bring Divine Light to human minds. With its help those who are deaf to reasoning will be able to hear and understand His Orders; those who were blind to realities and truth will see and realize the good that religion teaches and those who were behaving like enemies of God will become obedient and submissive.”

Let us recite these prayers for the purification and upliftment of our souls. May these exercises lead to the dawning of light (Noor) in our souls. Ameen.

Research Bulletins

The Holy Quran teaches that the sequence in acquiring complete knowledge starts from the outer world and extends into the inner world of human beings:

“We shall show them Our portents on the horizons and within themselves (in their souls) until it will be manifest unto them that it is the Truth. Doth not thy Lord suffice, since He is Witness over all things?” (41:53). (1)

Recent advances in science has led to a greater understanding of the processes in the material world. According to the above verse, humans have to prepare for discovering the signs of Almighty within their own souls.

Personal Pradhramani Preparation Resources for the Murids of the Holy Imam

Ya Ali Madad and Didar Mubarak! Here is an excerpt from Lecture 15, Be In The World But Not of the World, from the book titled Life and Lectures of the Grand Missionary Al-Muayyad-Fid-Din Al-Shirazi (page 109):

“O momins, may God make you from amongst those whose guardian is God in this world and the world to come and with whose devotion to Him he is much pleased.

You must bear in mind that you are made of a thick earthly body and a fine heavenly spirit. Your earthly body needs earthly nutrition to sustain its earthly existence and your spirit needs spiritual food to continue its spiritual life. The earth is the storehouse of the material nutrition consisting of food and water for the body and the Prophets and the Imams are the storehouses of sciences which supply nutrition to the spirit which is the most precious stuff.

O momins, take from the Imam the food for your next life. It will save your spirit from pollution and will qualify you with the attributes of the angels.”

The preparation for didar of NOOR Mowlana Hazir Imam is done individually and collectively. With Mowla’s immense grace and taid, the following resources were prepared for the Canadian Pradhamani who took place in June 2005. I hope that these resources will be useful to all murids who are preparing for the Holy Didar of NOOR Mowlana Hazir Imam in the near future.

A Poem on Salwat:

Ya Allah, Ya Muhammad, Ya Ali O Brothers and Sisters, do not rest,
Till all of us pass the test,
For Salwat is ours,
To be recited every hour.

When the salwat poses,
It becomes the staff of Moses.
Let the baraka of Allah, Muhammad and Ali flow,
And see the true believers glow.

Let love and consciousness grow,
And see negativity hit a new low,
For darkness disappears,
When the Sun appears.

External and Internal Signs Of God

The following ayat of the Holy Qur’an teaches us that God shows His signs externally in the universe and internally in the soul:

“Soon will We show them our Signs in the (furthest) regions (of the earth), and in their own souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth. Is it not enough that thy Lord doth witness all things? ” (Yusufali, 041.053)

This implies that barakat of the Holy Didar is experienced at physical (zaheri), spiritual (ruhani) and luminous (noorani) levels. Therefore, it is important to discover the treasures that are hidden in the soul from the barakat of the Holy Didar. In order to do this, we have to do a lot of dhikr so that the inner voice gets a chance to express itself. Therefore, we are undertaking a 40-day didar gratitude prayer card project to soften our souls and hear their expressions.

Didar Gratitude Prayer Cards

It is very easy to lose the momentum of the Holy Didar after the Holy Imam’s departure from one’s country. However, it is important to offer utmost gratitude for the Holy Imam’s visit to our country. Therefore, we are undertaking a 40-day project to thank the Holy Imam with our hearts and souls, prepare for the Golden Jubilee Didars across the world, and also extend our prayers of well wishing to the Noorani family, the global Ismaili Muslim community, the Muslim Ummah, humanity at large, for all departed souls and for the salvation of all the souls in the Universe. The second objective of this project is to encourage a large number of people to call on God to extend peace on Earth and for the salvation of countless millions of souls. I have taken an Ismaili Muslim viewpoint in developing these prayer cards and am solely responsible for this project. Participation is voluntary.

The 40-day Period

The motivation for this 40-day project is the following hadith of the Holy Prophet: “Whoever worships God sincerely for 40 days, God opens his heart, expands his chest and loosens his tongue to speak with wisdom even though he may be very weak in speaking and understanding.” (Ahadith-i Mathnawi, p. 196). The current project will start on Monday, June 20, 2005 and end on Friday, August 12, 2005. There will be five postings per week for a period of 8 weeks.

Satisfaction of Heart

“The single remedy for every kind of false fear, every kind of perplexity, inferiority complex, worldly greed, embarrassment, torment of bad or disturbing thoughts, sadness, restlessness, disappointment, unwanted anger, indignity, slip of tongue, lack of courage, malice, pride, vanity, ignorance, negligence, laziness, meanness, uneasiness, oblivion, obtuseness, mental confusion and other such ethical and spiritual diseases, is the satisfaction of heart which is attained from the blessings of Divine remembrance as is said in verse (13:28): “Verily in the remembrance of God do the hearts find satisfaction (gradually).” It should be remembered that, from the remembrance of God, the hearts find satisfaction gradually. Since the hearts are in different ranks, therefore, from the beginning to the end, the satisfaction depends on the knowledge and good deeds of each individual.” [Source: Spiritual Healing, p. 11]
